C'mon please??

Does anyone have a fix to prevent the limewire/xp freeze problem? I have even reformated my HD and did a clean install of XP. I have also removed all versions of Java and Limewire, dowloaded the latest limewire and installed, removed the java that came with Limewire, and went to the site to download the XP compatiple Java. I am still gtting a complete system freeze when running Limewire and have to reboot. I am running a Nvidia MX 400 graphics card. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions. Do the folks from Limewire monitor this board? If so, at least give me an answer or something, please.

Thank you

XP Lockup

Yes, I have the exact same issue. I am running XP Professional and LimeWire 3.2.0 Pro. Initially works, then locks up. Then works, then locks up ... you get the idea.

And it happens every time I start the program. I have to admit that 3.2.0 seems to do it less than 3.1.0, but I am still disappointed. Hopefully this gets resolved soon. I check the update page regularly hoping for the best.

What java version are you using?

chris.smith July 3rd, 2003 01:11 PM

Java version

ooops. I think I found it.

Control panel says that I have installed
Java Runtime Environment Standard Edition 1.3.1_04.

Is that what you are looking for ? It is the version that came with my download.

XP Lockup continues after upgrades

per suggestions in this thread, I uninstalled 1.3.1 of Java and installed the new one (1.4.1). I also upgraded LimeWire from 3.2.0 to 3.2.1. And it still hangs. Not only that, but it also brought my whole XP system down last time ! This is not what I was hoping for.

Also of note may be that when LimeWire runs and then hangs/runs/hangs etc. it also kills my MSN messenger connection and Outlook can no longer send/receive. Once I kill LimeWire everything else is fine.

Try Sun's 1.4.2 beta, that's what I am using on my XP system.

Beta Java ?

How do I get that version ? I can't locate it on the Sun site.

trap_jaw4 July 3rd, 2003 03:37 PM

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Maybe this helps, - although I never had the problems you describe with any java version.

LimeWire still NFG with XP

Thanks for the link. I've downloaded and installed 1.4.2, and still have the same issues with LimeWire and XP.
