Lightbulb Do Not Download This Program

Dear Unregistered,

Let me see if I understand you correctly.

LimeWire loaded well over 7 billion popup ad-ware attack windows/stealth programs on your system, so many in fact that when the program started you had to wait a really really long time for your chance to steal other peoples copyrighted material while focusing on your job at The Big Company.

This was not bad enough, it seems that when you attempted to remove LimeWire from The Big Company's Computer System, LimeWire sent out hundreds and hundreds of malicious talons tipped with grappling hooks for ripping and pulling at the Windows OS and all other software it could grab on its way out. It kind-a said to you, "You'll never take me alive! And if I die, the OS Dies Too! I'm taking the OS with me, and the little dog too."

Pretty darn sinister if you ask me. Now I think I understand your message title “Do Not Download This Program"

I am writing because I am a little confused by your experience. Let me tell you what happened to me when I first came across LimeWire. I read a couple of reviews, all pretty positive, so I decide to download it and give it a try. (I was a little reluctant because I had just recently been burned by a competing brand that did much of what you described above to my system without my knowledge). After I download LimeWire and start the install a Window Pops Up on the Screen that says something like the following:

Though LimeWire is Free we do need to recoup our expenses somehow, so IF YOU AGREE, we would like to load the following three ad-tracking software programs on your hard drive along with the LimeWire program. IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE AD-WARE SOFTWARE LOADED ON YOUR SYSTEM. JUST CHECK OFF THE BOX NEXT TO THE NAME OF THE SOFTWARE AND IT WILL NOT BE INSTALLED. We will then only install LimeWire. It also said something to the effect of if you don’t want to load the adware software you can purchase the LimeWire Pro package for $9.50, it does not contain any ad software whatsoever.

I thought that that was a very Up-Front way to handle explaining to the public how their business model works and what the need to continue to provide this type of package for us to share. I was so impressed with their methodology that I went right to their web site and bought the pro version and haven’t seen any problems at all. You might want to ask the finance department of The Big Company if they can cut you a Purchase Order for $9.50 so you can use LimeWire without fear of bringing down the Enterprise Backbone.

How completely stupid are you? - are you 100% dumb-*** stupid or just . . . . .

Go tell someone how much the second hand smoke is bothering you and infringing on your rights to hang out in a smoke shop without having to endure the hideous smell of cigars and tobacco (Oh wait – doesn’t your father smoke cigars? And didn’t he say if you complain about them one more time you’re out of the trust fund and the will entirely . . . Right . . . I thought I heard you say Cigars are not the bad guys here . . .

I sure hate when that happens!

This is a new one, a destroyed computer? And the good folks at LimeWire didn't do anything wrong. There may have been a conflict between your computer and Sun's Java, or the uninstaller had an error, but, tell me who installed the program in the first place. I'm sure it didn't install itself, so who?

If you post a question, you'll probably get an answer.
If you post a flame, there's only one thing you'll get back . . .
