![]() I'm running XP Pro, no firewall, dial-up - already removed old java and installed updated java from sun website. I have a 256mb DDR ATI Radeon 9800XT video card. The only way I can run Limewire and actually see the program (it's not grayed out) is to set the card to low (8 bit). Is this a problem anyone else is reporting? I searched the forum and couldn't find anything. Please help. It's a pain to switch back and forth between display settings. Thanks in advance. |

![]() I updated the video card driver and bios. I still can only view Limewire in 256 colors. This and web java are the only two programs doing this to me. That's why I removed the old java and installed the new one. Any ideas? |

![]() errrr... You have done a right-click on your 'open' Desktop and then Properties > Settings Right ? No offense if this seems 'newbee-esque' insulting... Not meant that way.

![]() I'll explain the problem more clearly. When my video card is set to 32 bit and I run Limewire, the program opens up. However, the window is gray and I can't see any of the buttons. If I click around in the gray box Limewire actually connects, but I can;t see anything - still gray. I tried all the fixes that you list in your signature and I jumped through all kinds of other loops like downloading Java, etc... Then I thought, what if I change the settings on the video card. I tried 16 bit and got the same result. Then I tried 8 bit and finally I could see the window (it wasn't gray). Short of setting the program to run in 256 colors, is there anything else I can try? |

![]() Dimension XPS Gen 2 Series, Intel Pentium 4 at 3.2GHZ, 2GB DDR SDRAM at 400MHZ. Power: Output Wattage: 460 Watts Input Voltage (auto-sending): 90 - 135V at 50/60 Hz; or 180 - 265 V at 50/60 Hz Heat Dissipation: 1000 BTU/hour (fully loaded computer without monitor) Backup Battery: 3.0 V CR2032 coin cell Seems plenty powerful to run Limewire. Can you see a conflict or something? The videocard is working great with games, video ets... The machine just seems to hate Sun Java. |
