LimeWire is legal--you don't download from LimeWire but from others who share their files. If you use LW to download material that the laws of your state and country say you shouldn't, then you can get in trouble. Since LimeWire connects to the Gnutella network and has many international users, the laws on what is or isn't legal to share vary greatly.

If you are in the US, see http://www.eff.com/share/

btw--you inadvertently (I hope) insulted anyone who might try to answer you by assuming they would lie and that you are someone they should obey.

most likely not--you'd have to check with the author whether they have permitted their work to be shared.

In Canada, maybe, though the CRIA is currently appealing a ruling http://www.canfli.org/index.php

This is not the place to be asking legal advice though. You are unlikely to get reliable legal advice on a public forum Kinda like asking neighbours for medical advice--just gives something to think about.

Sounds like you have good parents.

Nice thing about a democracy is that people get the government they deserve and if they don't like what they get, they can change it without having to kill people to do so. Ballot box revolutions are so much better than the other kind.

Looks like you have good contacts with several voters--well worth finding out how to change laws you disagree with. Could take a while, but maybe they'll be a decent solution before the time you are a parent
