Question windows installer only installs jre; not limewire.exe or sth like that!..

the installer only installs a share directory and java runtime env., but not an executable file like "limewire.exe" or something like that. I've tried everything... Tried downloading again and again from everywhere... What's the problem???

download limewire other platforms version and install this

later run lime with following command (all in one line)

javaw -cp LimeWire.jar;collections.jar;swing.jar a.a.a.b.Main limewire.props

I highly recommend using phex it is a java servent based on Furi. It has great performance and supports upload resumes, which is a good thing for other gnutella users, and a feature that limewire lacks AFAIK.

The LimeWire installer does occasionally fail on some platforms. If you are using some version of Windows, we will be updating the installer in the next several weeks so that it should work for you.

We apologize for this inconvenience. The advice given in the previous post (the advice to use javaw from the command line, not the advice to use Phex!). This will, of course, only work if you have java 1.2 or above installed.

Since your install successfully installed the jre, however, you may want to use the command from the java version that we are using. In this case, you would replace "javaw" with "jrew." You also do not need to include the "limewire.props" at the end (although it does no harm). The command would then read:

jre -classpath LimeWire.jar;collections.jar;swing.jar a.a.a.b.Main

You should type all of this from the command line when you are in the directory containing the LimeWire installation from the LimeWireOther.zip installer.

Thank you to the person who made the previous post for supplying this information. We, of course, feel strongly that LimeWire is the best gnutella client available, especially given the major improvements in LimeWire 1.4.

I meant that command to be:

jrew -classpath LimeWire.jar;collections.jar;swing.jar a.a.a.b.Main

note the "jrew" in place of the "jre."
