Default newbe needs help

I have been using limewire for almost a year now. I have an old Compaq Presario PC. It's like 350Mhz. But I do have DSL . For some super odd reason I can never upgrade to the newest version of Limewire. After downloading the upgrade I tried saveing to my computer and opening up and it will not take.
During the Install Wizard it always falls on its face. It gives me two codes. 1) 1714: the older version of LimeWire can not be removed. Contact your Tech Support Group and 2) 1603: Fatal error during install. Consult Windows Installer Help ( msi.chm) or MSDN for more info.
I have no clue what those mean. But I have tried removing the program and can not get it out of my system. I have tried to Find the files titled Limewire and remove them I even did some deleting in the Registry. No luck what so ever. And of course I have done just enough damage to get rid of my Limewire and now Have no way to re-install it back. So I have nothing right now.
