I have *loads* of IP addresses that I want to enter into Limewire to block. I have so many that adding them one-by-one is not an option.
What file format can I use and where do I put it to add all these IPs to Limewire at once? TIA. |

the IP's are saved in the limewire.props file (on OS X at least) in the line starting
BLACK_LISTED_IP_ADDRESSES= They can be edited with a plain text editor; individual entires are separated with a semi-colon. I think you have to have at least one IP listed in the options for the line to show in the limewire.props file. cheers |

Other P2P programs use a dedicated file. Doing search and replace as I speak. Edit: the plain text file I'll be trying to use is 220Kb! I bet Limewire objects to it <g>. Later...cannot add that many IPs to exclude. Poor show Limewire :-(. Last edited by DrTeeth; October 2nd, 2004 at 02:19 PM. |

I'll be curious to hear how it goes.
What do you do about dynamic IP's? I block spam IP's for a little while, then try to clear the list on later sessions. Legitmate users have enough trouble connecting--I'd regret it if they get assigned one of the dynamic IP's that showed up on one of the blocklists at one time.

I don't bother about dynamic IPs, when you consider what I am trying to block. The only solution is not to share any of my MP3s, just non-copyrighted stuff. Geez, this really needs to be addressed in Limewire. All my other P2P apps are fully protected as far as possible with about 16,400 blocked IPs. |

protowall & blocklist manager are the best ive found for handling ips to keep out-- both available here:

Only problem with using protowall is that it does no good if you happen to be using a proxy, did a test to see off a second pc of mine, stuck it's ip to block into protowall and used a socks server on the pc, connected to it with no problems, stopped using a socks proxy and couldn't connect at all.
Noticed that before when using a proxy with me webbrowser and kept getting ad's in that i knew were blocked on protowall... If yer not using a proxy then protowall and the blocklist manager work excellent for blocking out assorted ip's as long as you keep yer blocklist sources updated.... |
