Default update to sp2

I updated to service pack 2 for winxp. Next thing, I could'nt open limewire. It turns out limewire uses sun/java runtime environment 2. Win xp service pack 2 takes out java re2 and uses their own virtual machine (big litigation going on with sun microsystems) which stops me from opening limewire. Now I took out sp2, paid 200 dollars for a pc repair man to fix pc and I get limewire to work. My question is I believe, in the future, that We will all need sp2. what is being done so that I can upgrade to sp2 without losing limewire again?

Default sp2 problems

by the way, my repair man said to leave sp2 off pc for a minumum of 6 months. ( he does testing for them) He figures it'll take that long to straighten sp2 out. Otherwise he said we just might have to wait for HOUSTON. ( the next big microsoft opeerating system due out in late 2005/ early 2006

Hmmmm. They only thing that you had to do was to go to www.java.com and download the latest version for your OS (Java is free, in case you didn't know)... 200$? ... I'm skeptical....:/
