Question does java slow down limewire?

I've been using limewire for a few weeks now and it's worked great, until last night. I downloaded java to help with a Yahoo! game and now my limewire program looks different AND it runs a lot slower...this doesn't happen to any other applications, so is there some kind of setting or something for limewire where java slows it down? Somebody help!...

Try not running both at the same time. Particularly if they are both competing for upld & dwnld bandwidth. The later the version of Java, the better LW should run.

Which version of Java did you install? Was it a standard version or other?

I believe you can specify a version of Java to be used with particular apps. I'm not a windows user per se so I'm not the one to ask about how to do it. Either Peerless or deepblue I think would be good candidates to ask. I know deepblue does that.
