Default CPU usage

I've just upgraded to 4.2.6 and although it is working fine the one problem i have with it is that it is trying to use all my CPU power. It is running at the moment at 90% and my usage is always at 100% now. I gone through the options limiting upload and download speeds but it doesn't seem to have any affect. How can i get it back to normal so to speak. My last version ran at about 10% !

Default CPU usage

Dont know whether it is the same thing but mine (Lime wire pro) send the disk crazy for about 10 minutes everytime I load it.

It seems to be when it checks for shared files but why does it have to do it everytime?

Kazaa doesnt do it but still manages to keep track of the new files in the shared folder!

Default CPU usage, LW vs LW PRO

With LimeWire 4.2.6 I was having a lot of trouble doing anything with my computer. CPU usage was generally around 80%.

I decided to buy LimeWire Pro. My CPU usage is half what it used to by, I'm connected to more Ultrapeers, searches are faster, and downloads are much quicker. Oh, and it doesn't crash like 4.2.6 did, either.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that the free version of Limewire actively throttles itself back. Sometimes when connecting I'd reach turbocharged connectivity, only to have the program drop back out of that level of connectivity. If Limewire actively limited itself in the free version, it could account for the extra CPU use we see.

Hi People
I had a major problem with CPU useage and slow program
speed and after reading this thread-'Link below'
I cut my shared files down from 40000 files to around 1600 files
and everything is now Fine as it's not trying to sort so many files.

Good link. I've reduced the number of files as well and it's now running at about 10%, which is nice!

Your CPU useage depends mostly on you computers hardware. It depends on your amount of RAM, the speed of your RAM, the speed of your CPU, and the amount of flies that you share. For instance, on my computer I have 512MB of PC4000 RAM and LW uses about 44MB, and I share about 3GB of files. For CPU useage, I run around 30 or 40 percent on and Intel 2.8C overclocked to 3.08Ghz. If your hardware can't handle LimeWire with it's current settlings, you should make some of the changes listed in the link above. Good luck.

Yeah your computer can definately handle it. How much total CPU usage do you have? And are you sure that LW's taking up most of it?
