Hi Anne, The LimeWire.jar file is under C:\Program Files\LimeWire, not under the root subdirectory. You double-clicked on that (not one of the other many .jar files) and nothing happened? Hrmph. Have you gone in Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs, uninstalled Java, gone to java.com & reinstalled it? There's not much else I can do to troubleshoot this right now. We'll try to build a more debuggable version of LimeWireDebug.exe to trace exactly what's going wrong. We'll have that ready sometime late tomorrow. Also -- Do you happen to have a file called "launch.properties" in your C:\Program Files\LimeWire directory? If so, delete it and try launching LimeWire again. If not, we'll have to wait for the newer LimeWireDebug. |
yes clicked on limewire.jar, so whats the deal then, I paid for this but cant use it? I will try the java thing, havent done that, but my prospects arent high. how am i going to get this to work? and if i cant how can i make sure im not charged on my credit card for it? thanks |
You'll have to wait until normal working hours on a weekday until we can actually build an exe that can help us figure out what's causing the problem. Until then, you can use the free version. If that isn't working, I apologize, but there's not much else I can do. |
hey I reinstalled java and the program just worked. I dont get it but sorry to bother you all day. my comp had two types of java on it, i removed them both, downloaded JRE 1.5 and restarted the comp, them installed it them limewire just started, got the PRO version working, thanks for the help. if i can help you out with info on the problems i was having let me know thanks |
Sorry Sam. I was going to add a sample image too. lol I went to task manager & found 2 items belonging to LW in operation. One was 11 MB & I think the other was 33 MB in size. I cancelled both. Restarted Windows & this time LW started up ok & is now working ok. Sorry about that! (I installed on Drive C but I have another earlier version on Drive F. That might have been the problem! I guess I should delete the other!?!) I noticed it has duplicated my port forwarding: ie: it has obviously detected this to be the case. But so far incoming is false. But that may be a limitation of VPC or b/c I may need to use a different port for my modem (ie:forward a separate port for windows.) They are set up as a lan (even though it's the one comp.) I notice now that incoming is still false but I'm getting plenty of hits on my files. A couple have had 32 each & increasing. lol :D Poor people! I'm getting a bit paranoid b/c I don't have protection at present. |
