Unable to uninstall Limewire I am currently running on version 1.6, but am unable to run a complete uninstall or reinstall of Limewire. After going into Add/Remove Programs and choosing to remove LimeWire, the Limewire InstallShield Wizard begins and then I get the following error: "An error occured while launching the setup. (0x80040801)" My only option is to click OK, and it automatically terminates the wizard shield. I also receive the same error, when trying to install other versions of Limewire. I have already removed Java2 1.3.1 and reinstalled it. What else can I do to remove Limewire from my Millenim Edition machine? |
Try installing LimeWire in the same exact location as you did the first time. With any luck, it'll install and restore the corrupted data. Then , try to uninstall it. Come back if this doesn't work. :-) |
I am also getting the oX80040303 error message when trying to install limewire. This is the first time that I have setup the program. It just fails in the middel of the install and kicks me out. I have reinstalled the JRE 1.3.1 a couple of times with no improvement. I wonder if this has anything to do with running IE 6 which I just loaded before trying to setup limewire. I'm running on Windows 2000 with SP2. Any suggestions on how to install the program. Thanks |
You need to have administrator rights enabled if you are running Win2k. In other words, log in as Admin or root user. |
