I am currently running on version 1.6, but am unable to run a complete uninstall or reinstall of Limewire. After going into Add/Remove Programs and choosing to remove LimeWire, the Limewire InstallShield Wizard begins and then I get the following error:

"An error occured while launching the setup. (0x80040801)"

My only option is to click OK, and it automatically terminates the wizard shield.

I also receive the same error, when trying to install other versions of Limewire.

I have already removed Java2 1.3.1 and reinstalled it. What else can I do to remove Limewire from my Millenim Edition machine?

Try installing LimeWire in the same exact location as you did the first time. With any luck, it'll install and restore the corrupted data. Then , try to uninstall it.

I am also getting the oX80040303 error message when trying to install limewire. This is the first time that I have setup the program. It just fails in the middel of the install and kicks me out. I have reinstalled the JRE 1.3.1 a couple of times with no improvement. I wonder if this has anything to do with running IE 6 which I just loaded before trying to setup limewire. I'm running on Windows 2000 with SP2. Any suggestions on how to install the program.

You need to have administrator rights enabled if you are running Win2k. In other words, log in as Admin or root user.
