Connected, but no search I can connect, but my searches do not have any results. I am using Limewire pro 4.8.0. I have windows xp that is up to date. I have a cable modem. I never had any problems in the past, but I have not used limewire for about two weeks and now I get nothing. I just upgraded to the newer version, but that did not help. I was using 4.6. I went through the firewall instructions, but it did not help. What should I do? |
Try deleting your LW Preferences folder described here: Fixes for Limewire |
Thanks for the info, but it will not allow me to delete that file. What should I try next? Thanks for your time, Jack |
You didn't read the instructions very carefully. You can only do it when LW is closed. When LW starts up again, it will ask you to set new options & thus creating a new & fresh preferences folder. |
I'm having search problems as well I"ve tried everything on the windows support page and still can't get my search to work!!I would appriciate any help anyone could offer. |
Who is your ISP provider, your problem sounds suspiciously familiar to problems suffered by some others over recent weeks. |
Thanks for answering so fast! My Isp is Insight comunications. |
Bummer ... that's what I was worried about! :( Please read: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=33712 One person came up with a solution about using a proxy setting to overcome the issue. I don't know much about proxies so perhaps you can send NeOteric a pm if you have difficulty or some others decided to move away from Insight. Both links are within the above link. :) |
Thanks for the help man But I couldn't get a proxy to work.It seemed to me that Neoteric was saying his connection was blocked totally. On mine lime wire can connect people can download from me and here it gets weird I can browse through their files and dowload from them but I can't do a search I did real general searchs like 50 cent and beatles but no search results? |
I don't know. That's a tricky question! Other example of Insight users can be see here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=32604 http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=33513 http://www.gnutellaforums.com/search...der=descending It might have something to do with the way Sandvine works I don't know! I mean if a proxy works then it's not a total block. |
