Default Cannot Connect (prolly tired already huH?)

lol I know there have been a ton of posts about not being able to connect, but I've looked through all of them, all the FAQ's, searched on google, done everything, and..........i still can't connect.

I have tried running the .jar file, I have tried changing my ports to accept all ports on TCP and UDP and protocols, and almost everything else.

I am using windows 2000. I install Limewire, and when I start it, I can't connect. I couldnt figure out if limewire is a win XP program only, and would like to know how to fix my problem if it isn't.

Please help =)

Thank you in advance!

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram?
4. HDD space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...)

These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

I have windows 2000
I do not have any firewalls.
I am connected to a server which supports a network.
I have 512 ram.
I have more than enough HDD space, few gigs.
I have DSL.
Not sure what you're asking by number 6...
And I am connecting from home, and have the latest version of limewire, and latest version of JSE and JSDK.

On my other computer, however, I have Windows XP installed. I can't use this computer much since it's my roomates, but Limewire works perfectly on it, and it is connected to the same network.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Two computers using the same port? My immediate thought is 2 suggestions. Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall & set it to UPnP. If that doesn't work then try setting a different port for LW to listen to; eg: Port 6342 (sample image here though this is for force ip so just set that to UPnP for now: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...010#post120010 )

You mean you already had it set to listen to a different port to that of 6346. Are you sure. try port 6342 or another. Change the listening port (the top option box not the firewall option box.)

you sure are here a lot ;p hehe, anyways though, i tried 6330 to 6346, still won't connect.

Im confused though why it does connect on my roomates PC and not on mine. It seems the only difference is that his is windows Xp and mine is 2000.

Heres another thing though. When I go to check my connections, I see 9 of them and it connects to some IP's for a few seconds, and for those few seconds I can browse and download from those IP's, but then it loses connection to them, so I am connecting, its just not staying there...If that's any help ;x
