Double check that you don't have LW set to run on system startup (tools > options > advanced > system startup. Untick 'run on system startup' & apply). Just because you can't see a virus, doesn't mean that it's not there.
Please see point 4 in the thread below

Default Limewire exits during downloads

My install of limewire is exiting whenever I click on any file and try to download it, this is really starting to annoy me so I am currently doing a virus scan with Mcafee that was provided by comcast, my isp. Does anyone have any idea what needs to be done to stop this? First some darn annoying program started upon login to my account and now this crap. The program was called wmedia.exe and I found it running in my task manager, ended it then deleted the files associated with it.

Default Limewire

Ive noticed that my limewire seemed to mess up before aswell.. but i have also noticed a file which had the description Limewire Swarmed Installer... since i have deleted this file my Limewire has been fine... perhaps you should start looking for something like this... i found it at the very bottom of my C Drive. this could solve some problems..

Default limewire opening up

I cant find the file winupdates in the task manager.

I deleted the file limewire from the task manager and i deleted it from the registry, it does not open anymore, i also deleted it from my computer, all files, i still cant get task manager when i hit ctrl, alt, del.

i have it on the desktop, if i want to open it, but how do i get it to work from the keyboard?

isnt this like rewriting microsoft windows?

who did this, the music industry?
