Smile Java Heap error

Hello, I am relatively new to the forum, so I am not familiar with all the procedures and etiquite but here goes my first post. I am running a P4 2.6GHz w 1.5GHz ram. LW Pro 4.9.11 and Java 1.4.2_05 . LW was generating errors like crazy and then choking system to where I had to ctrl-alt-del kill LW regularly. I read the posts, tried the recomendations, and got LW to run for about an hour without restart. I then tried turning off HyperThreading and LW ran for about 4 hours with a full queue and a couple of thousand files shared. I was running as Ultrapeer on DSL the whole time. A few more tweaks and I might be there. Anyone have any new input on this problem or how to increase the heap in Java?

I would suggest upgrading your Java to version 1.5_04, unless you have had problems with that version in the past. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

I had not heard about the beta Ultracross but I believe I read some of your earlier posts on this subject. Is the beta available and is the heap thing fixed? Can I get it?

As to the other reply (sorry I forgot your name) I downgraded to 1.4.2 Java to try to bandage this memory problem.

Default Jave Heap Error

Hi:

I know of no way to increase Jave Heap size, but after going back and forth for about a week with Limewire tech support, I was able to determine that the number of files being shared and the number of files waiting in the download que seems to effect the Java heep memory - If you keep your shared files to under 1000 and don't have more than a few waiting files it seems to run ok without the constant internal java heep errors - I hope this helps.
