Default Limewire will not stop hitting my computer!

I have deleted it, cleared all files I can find, why is it still trying to access my computer from the outside? How do I get it to stop? There is obviously a file somewhere hidden that is still telling it to hit me for some reason. I am recieving around 50 hits a day from this program.

Wooh, calm down. Gnutella has what is called a downoad mesh, which is a list of alternative sources for one file that clients exchange between them. You are probably in one download mesh for a file you previously shared.

When was the last time you run LW? Normal Gnutella clients will forget about you in less than a day. It may be longer for buggy clients.

Anyhow, how 50 hits a day a big deal? It's not like it consumes bandwidth, CPU power or if they try to infect you.... First time you look at a firewall log, heh?

Ciao

I never shared a file for upload, just checked out a couple D&D books to see if they were worth buying, but then started getting hit. I have gotten hit 13 timers just trying to type this...14...I then deleted the downloads, then the program then as I described...15...16...then searched for any files with LW or Limewir extentions...17...18... This is so frustrating...19...

...24...25...What is happening is I have Norton Internet Security and these are attempts to get into my computer. I run 4 computers side by side ans this is the only one getting the hits, and it started the minute I activated the LW program and has not stopped since...6 months now I think...

....so? If you started downloading something, with partial file sharing, you enter the download mesh.

You started reading firewall logs today, really?

I'm hit far more often today for a service I've stopped providing 18 months ago... And I'm not even talking about worms. Do I care? Not really And for the worms/virus that scans computers (not related to Gnutella), well I have mac os x!

If it's Gnutella hits, it should stop soon, don't worry.

he answered your questions, the fact is you cant understand him. i believe you are still even added to an alt-loc (download mesh) when you download something.

THESE ARE NOT HARMFULL IN ANY WAY! and there is no coincidence, this forum is just that, a forum. there is no conspiracy to "hack your precious computer".. learn what its about before making these accusations.
