firstly...download Everest, available here: http://www.lavalys.hu/index.php

install it, and then run it and look for the temperature of your cpu. it will be listed under Computer>Overclock

well it certainly looks as if your cpu is running at an acceptable temperature. and I have to admit, I overlooked your statement that without LimeWire your box performs fine (sorry about that), but you now have a fine little utility (Everest) which will allow you to monitor what's going on inside of your box.

I would have to say that perhaps you have a virus or somesuch that is causing your problem, which means a virus scan is in order. or perhaps there is some sort of problem with the newest version of LW

I would like you to do somthing. While LimeWire is running could you press down and hold

#1 Ctrl + Alt then push Delete this should bring up windows task manager.

#2 Click on the letters CPU this will make the % of CPU usage line up in order of amount of usage make a note of the programs and how much they are using.

System Idle Process 10
exoplorer.exe 10

It may be possible you have a java issue and you may be stuck in a loop. I hope the picture helps explain what I want.

It would be interesting to check the cpu responses/heat/wattage after about 5 hrs. If it tends to crash/self-reboot after 6 hrs, keeping a monitor upon what's happening with the cpu 'might' lead to some guides toward the problem. It may have been a stuffy ram piece, or anything. A unreliably sized heat-sink is a possible cause 'if' it is a heat issue. It might also be related to how you use LW although that is purely the catalyst & not the underlying fault.

Some defenses against LW being a catalyst to the problem:
1. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

2. Reduce drag on LW & if necessary reduce no. of files shared if 1,000 or more.

3. See the following link & follow all the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help: To continue files downlding (click on link)

(I must'a had this window open a while b/c I didn't see Grandpa's response! ) :)
