When i subsribed to limewire.com and chose to pay for only a monthly subscribtion, i was surprised to find limewire charginf me for 1 year and additional codecs pro stuff up to a total of almost 57$ !!!!!

They also made it so difficult to contact them for such issues and always keep throwing you in the forums!

I hope i can find someone here who can help me cancel my order Order ID #: 680520050915083500167

All this money and i get an old version?
All this money for a very slow download and hundreds of members sending you trojans and ****.

Whoops it sounds like you paid your money thru a scam site & they directed you to the downld site of the free version. So you probably don't even have LW Pro but LW Basic. LW Pro costs US $18.88 & LW Basic is FREE. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1 & tell us where you paid your money. Check their site very carefully, such as in their support section (if they have one) & see if there's any mention of money back or cancellation of service. If not, then visit/phone your card company ASAP & explain to them it was a scam site. Some card companies have special dept's dealing with issues like this such as scams on the internet. It might also be wise to cancel your card after this & get another, else they may keep charging you. I've never seen that one before. I went to the site & they can't even spell support properly. BTW after this is over, if you still want to try LW, then try out the free version 1st & see if you like it & if there's any issues we can help you with.

It looks like you are another victim (one of many) of the sites specially set up to part the gullible and naive internet user from their money.

Your best bet is to contact your credit card company, inform them that you are the victim of fraud and you should get your money back without too much difficulty.

And as LOTR has said, cancel your card or these crooks could keep charging you for fictitious purchases or membership fees for your non-existent club.

You may wonder how can these parasites get away with setting up web-sites especially designed to rip people off? Well, I guess, it's very lucrative because not everyone complains once they get their "free" software that they have paid for. And not everyone that does "business" with these crooks realise they have been conned out of their money.

I also feel that the banks and credit card companies themselves are complicit in this highly profitable (money for nothing) market because they supply the scam sites with their payment facilities.

Anyway, don't be put off from buying goods and services over the internet, you just have to do some research before you part with your money.

ok, first of all thank you guys for your help.
i called the bank and they already suspended my CC
they also said they will do whatever they can to recover the amount.

Meanwhile, i have another question pls.

If i buy the correct pro version, how true is it that i will have faster download?
Cause actually limewire seem to be very slow in compare to bittorrent and similar applications.
And what about those who are sending trojans? Doesn't Limewire check these files online?

What's shared on the gnutella network is between people like you & I. The files are not stored on a server, unlike some p2p networks which is what has wound them up in court.

I repeat, start with LW Basic 1st, sort any possible issues out whilst you're setting up & learning to use it, & then if you feel confident, consider using the pro version. Yes the LW pro version connects to 5 peers instead of 3 compared to LW Basic. That will give you better connection, search & downld results. But, you need to become accustom to using LW 1st before anything else. Learn the tricks of the trade so to speak.
