Limewire shutting down

I just started using LimeWire 4.9.30 PRO and really enjoy it except for one thing....I get downloads going, minimize the screen, walk away and when I come back (sometimes 30 minutes other times hours) Limewire has shutdown. Have I installed it wrong or am I missing a setting someplace?

Thanks

Do you mean the program closes down & you have to re-open it or it just goes to sleep. There's what's known as idle mode when the mouse hasn't been touched for a period of time. This does not affect your downlds. It simply closes off one of the peers you're connected to which might normally be used for searching for example. But if you're not searching then you don't need it & someone else can use that peer. It's a way of keeping the gnutella network running healthily & freeing up peers for others when those peers aren't required.

It just shuts down, the icon is there in my system tray but when I move the mouse over it it goes away and I have to restart the program.

i have the same problem. i can start it up and watch it shut itself down in front of my eyes. its kinda annoying. the icon thing also applies to me, i can see the icon but then if i move my mouse the icon disappears

I have unistalled it and reinstalled it several times and it still does the same thing. Not sure why it is doing it but you are right very annoying! I am thinking of upgrading to the new version and seeing if I have the same problem.

upgrading has never helped me. i have tried using it before and stopped because it was doing this. but winmx is down for good now and this does have a large amount of files being shared so i keep coming back

I'm also having the same problem....is there anyway to fix it?

I also have this problem, and if I sit and watch I can see limewire die. I've tried everything in the fix it thread and no joy. If you look in the limewire directory you'll see log files, and the thrust of the message will likely be:
# An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x10004bd0, pid=2060, tid=2768

And a core dump. I've yet to see a solution to this, I had to downgrade to 4.8 to get limewire to work. And now I mainly use - Shareaza.
