Thanks - I did like this bit from the site:

"There could be many reasons for the JVM crash. We are currently investigating the exact root cause of this problem. Here is a list of some possible causes.

* The applet or application that you were running may contain programming errors or bugs that caused the JVM to crash."

I will try updating the jre though and see what happens.

Bah, I uninstalled the jre, and the jdk and all java from my computer, then uninstalled limewire - reinstalled only the jre, reinstalled limewire, and it ran for about 30 seconds before it winked out. Same error.

LOL, I "dought" that all bugs affect all people, even virtual ones :)

I had the " Shutting Down problem" where I was using Limewire and when I returned to the computer, it had closed down. Checking the system tray, when I clicked on the icon it disappeared.
To cure it I did nothing other than disable my "sharks" screensaver. As soon as the screensaver came on this de-activated limewire.

I now stop the screensaver when using limewire

Thanks Phil Kay :) I have heard of screensavers clashing before. This can be a very difficult problem to identify, so well done and thanks for letting everyone know how you solved your problem. :)

Bumping this thread... I have the same problem as the original poster. It makes me laugh that this problem existed 4 years ago and is still present...

I am running Limewire Pro 5.1.2...Java 1.6.0_11. I will see if some Java upgrades will help. This is on an XP/P4 machine if it matters. I have not been able to tell the whens or whys, only that Limewire tends to shut down without any conspicuous error messages.

I have virtually no power management running...only a monitor shut off after a period of time, but it's not tied to the randomness of Limewire's crashing

LW 5 is equivalent to a Beta version even though they removed that tag. It was definitely not ready for full release. I already made my thoughts about that known to them. Releasing a version that is lacking, has bugs, no comparison to the previous LW 4.18 for example. What more can one say. :) Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers

Clean installation technique: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html but use the above link for LW version installation link. :)

Yeah well whats with the small number of search results its like is the Gnutella network getting that small where theres not many files? On Ares, Emule, Soulseek and from torrents theres way more, it just seems like idk it seems like theres something not right with the Gnutella network to have downgraded that much in a year or two.
