Icon does not run LimeWire Just installed LimeWire 1.7c on W98 for first time. I double click desktop icon and LimeWire does not run. I have read FAQ but the solution given there to this problem does not help me. The desktop shortcut target is: "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\bin\javaw.exe" -cp . RunLime I have installed the JRE v 1.3.1_01 and and the file javaw.exe does exist as quoted in above path. I like the look of LimeWire and would like to use it, can anyone offer any help on this. Many thanks for your time Michael. |

LimeWire authors are morons i think Only solution I can offer is one I use myself, namely don't use the piece of crap. Like you I downloaded the 5.2 MB Java Runtime Environment and the piece of ****e LimeWire still will not run. Why do the authors not make it an executable, they could still provide source. I have installed hundreds of programs and this is the only one that will not run at all from install. The fact that the LimeWire authors can not make it run on a fairly standard Windows 98 setup means the rest of the program is crap for sure. Steer clear of it mate, use the Xolox client for Gnutell or better yet switch to WinMX. LIMEWIRE IS ****. You won't get any useful help from this forum either. Its the only real LimeWire support and it is, like the program, a terrible crippled thing. |

Run problem I have noticed this has cropped up before and 'support' has ignored it or referred to FAQ which gives obvious answers that most people would try automatically and do not fix the problem. So a set of people are left unable to run the app. |

Re. 1.7 wont run I wrote first post here. I have found no solution to the problem here or elsewhere. I found a copy of version 1.6d and have exactly same problem as with 1.7c. The icon is just dead. Like I said I have the JRE installed and have a fairly typical Win98 system so I do not see why it does not run and why there is no solution offered by anyone. It must be a fairly common problem. Michael. |

Same problem I also have the same problem. I used to run LW 1.5 (?) and it ran perfectly fine but as soon as I updated to v 1.6c or d nothing happens when I try to start the program. I downloaded the 1.7c version today but the problem remains. I also have mailed support regarding this issue way back but I never got any response... :-( |
