Default Limewire Freezing When Identical p2p Files Chosen For Download.

Hope that this is not repetition?!

I bought and installed Limewire 4.9.29 Pro (having had LW in free/pro form for quite a while).

When I mistakenly attempted to download a p2p file a facsimile of which was already being downloaded, I'd expect an error flag (like usual) and the opportunity to rename/redirect the file and that's it.

No such luck. LW would freeze. I emailed the help guys and they were bemused.

I've just installed FrostWire, which forces an install of Java 1.5.0. Frostwire runs just fine. So I thought I'd try to freeze LW by attempting to download identical files. Guess what?! All is now well.

Conclusion. If you've had a similar problem with LW, install Java 1.5.0, and I suspect all will then run o.k..

Regards, db.

I've noticed that almost all apps that use Java need the most current version... Azureus (a BT client) chokes using older Jave versions, and obviously you've found another problem with older versions...

Strangely enough, it was on this forum about 12 months ago that I was recommended to ditch Java 1.5.0 in favour of Java 1.4.2 due to 'freezing' issues I was experiencing with Limewire! And at that time, it did actually solve the problem.

Changing Java versions cures a lot of problems with Limewire, but it is a bit of a problem chosing the right one! I was trying to solve another question yesterday, and discovered this
