![]() Allright, I am new here so bear with me. Limewire has been working great for about 6 months now, but I started having problems yesterday. I go to start the program, and it goes through the whole "loading library...etc" screen and goes through a normal boot. However, when it comes time for the actually menu and such to come up the limewire program just closes and I get the following error: # # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine: # # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x004c0020, pid=3944, tid=1772 # # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_06-b05 mixed mode, sharing) # Problematic frame: # C 0x004c0020 # And nothing will work- I already reinstalled Java and limewire offline, but still no luck. Any help/advice? |

![]() 1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) 2. Use the add/remove control panel to remove all versions of Java from your system. Then downld & install the "Offline" Java version; Java 1.5 (take the JRE) |

![]() I am having the same problem, except I cannot even open up the add/remove programs within the control panel!! Everytime I try to open anything that will fix Limewire, or even the file that i downloaded files to for the last 8 months, I get a "execution prevention error" and windows tries to send an error report, then everything freezes and I must reboot. Everything worked fine for the last 8 months, then this. I have reinstalled limewire offline, but can't even see what version of Java I have because it won't let me. PLEASE HELP!! |

![]() You could go to NorbiesWorld (click on link) & post in his general computer problems section & ask him for advice why you can't open your add/remove control panel. Does this happen with other contol panels also? Are you logged in as the admin of the computer? |

![]() It really only happens when I click on the add/remove programs button. I tried to delete the Java folder through my computer, but it denies me access to it. I have also notice some things that seem odd in the program files folder, stuff that I didn't think used to be there. like a folder called MSN gaming zone and stuff like that. I ran spybot.exe and it doesn't find anything, and is fully updated. I thought it might be some spyware that is fouling things up..... |

![]() As far as a locked folder or file goes, there's an unlocker utility you can get; Incomplete Download File won't delete at all (click on link) However, that's probably not the best way to approach it until you find the cause of the problem. The mysteriously appearing folder is a concern! ![]() As far as possible virus, etc. Go to Norbie's site & follow his instructions as he will be able to check whether you have a problem for sure & fix it. And you certainly have some type of problem. Sometimes AV programs don't detect everything. |

![]() Thanks Mr. Rings, I will try that when I get home from work tonight to see if he has any suggestions. This happened really suddenly and I noticed alot of things that seem out of place, so I am thinking it is some sort of virus that Symantic didn't catch. Originally some thought that it was a corrupted install of JAVA and that's why I was trying to delete it, so that I could reinstall it and limewire. |
