If the problem recently started it is not caused by service pack2 and it is not wise to revert to service pack1. There are numerous security issues and vulnerabilities in service pack1 which can not be stooped. If you choose to run service pack1 be very careful what you download and what web sites you visit. The most likely reason for the BSOD is either a conflict with any new software you have added, any new hardware, either of these would most likely be driver issues. Or you have a ram/cpu/hard drive/motherboard or some other component failing. Also a bad Windows install is notorious for causing the BSOD which is very likely since you state you recently reformatted and upgraded.

Unfortunately these problems can be caused by allot of different things and can be very hard to figure out. Why did you reformat and upgrade to begin with. Did you use a original Windows Disk or a copy. Do you know if your motherboard supports your new CPU, Was the Bios flashed and updated when you upgraded. There are allot of things that need to be done and checked when you upgrade CPU's. Was the person that did the work a professional or just a friend or yourself that has maybe done a upgrade or two.
