Limewire Java problem - Can't click on anything. Hi. When I first downloaded Limewire I did not have any problems with it what so ever but one day it just refused to work properly, I have had this problem for probably about a year now, I have tried every possible method I can think of but yet it refuses to be fixed. Everytime I load up Limewire, all the menus and everything load up fine but I am unable to click on any buttons what so ever. They highlight when the mouse is scrolled over them like they are supposed to do, but I just can not click on them. Which is obviously an inconvinence. The exact same occurs when I open the Java Control Panel so obviously it is a Java problem. I have tried installing the latest version of Java, installing an older version of Java, removing the .limewire file, re-installing Limewire and pretty much every method I have come across on this forum, but nothing does the trick. I have also scanned for viruses just in case, and of course nothing came up. I am using Windows 98 and have over 5GB of free HD space. I am currently using the latest version of Limewire Pro and Java. Hopefully somebody here will have a solution to my problem. Thanks, Mark. |

Gust a thought. Have you tried changing your AA settings. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=39600 |

Have you tried changing skins. Just a long-shot. Skins have been known to cause problems in other situations or platforms. When was the last time you defragged the HDD. How much ram do you have? (I hope there's not too many cooks here lol ) |

since said user is actually using 98, that box must ba ancient as hell, and I truly think that is at least half of the problem....present day LW releases (along with all other programs in this world) are really not intended for use on such an old OS |

Yes lol, I do have a pretty ancient OS, I know, I really should update. I have 256MB RAM. And I last defragged about 3-4 months ago I think. 3dfx Voodoo Banshee PCI vid card. At least I think...and yes I have tried changing skins, but no luck. As I said before I am unable to click on anything in the Java Control Panel neither, no matter what version of Java I use. This never used to be the case as LW and everything else using Java used to work perfectly for me. |

well...it appears to me as if your whole system is really not up to running modern apps..this is just a personal opinion...your vid card prolly only has 16MB of ram on it, and yur specs for 'normal' ram whilst nice for about 6 years ago, is really lacking for current apps...basically, and it makes sense if you think upon it, present day apps are made for present day machines... IMHO a present day machine should have at least 512 of RAM, a minimum of 64MB video card (AGP or PCI-Express), and a minimum of 2.0GHz cpu...I think this is what's needed to deal with present day software... as a note, this system is a P4 Northwood core 2.8GHz with a 256MB vid card, and 2GB of ram (really only 1GB is needed, but I tend to do a lot of things at once on this machine) running Windoze XP SP2.... if you archive things like I do, then take a few steps back with both your LW program and the Java release... |
