Default Limewire and DirectX Applications

It seems as though when I run limewire, I cannot run it in the background along with a 3D application or game. When I do, the following occurs...

Loads 1 of the CPU's (Which ever affinity it is set to [HT processor])
Freezes the application, but not the PC
Continues to download queued files

You can still exit the program by right clicking the taskbar and clicking exit, however it cannot be done any other way except ending the task in the task manager.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a known way to fix it? I'd like to continue downloading files, but can't when it's loading my processor as it is, when I run 3D applications.

Things to note:

I have the most up-to-date directX and video drivers.

I should also add that when it is open, and downloading\searching, it is only consuming from 9-22% of virtual CPU1. I can open it and use it when the directX programs are minimized, however once I open the 3D program, thats when it loads the CPU.

Im going to try and set the affinity for limewire to the virtual cpu2 and see if it's reactionis the same. My theory says it will be.

Same result. I really feel there is a conflict somewhere between directX and either J2RE or Limewire.

As far as I know there is no way to fix it. It has to do with LimeWire's Graphics. When running LimeWire on Vista the OS has to chang it's compatibility mode from AERO to somthing else because LimeWire is not comparable with AERO.

You know Addohm

Between Hobo (a Mac user) and Grandpa, I think they have answered your question, i.e. even though you have a very powerful PC you are running two power hungry apps. As for the AERO compatibility problem, Grandpa is usually on the money about such things.

The simple answer to your problem is to run only one app at a time.

Defeats the purpose of hyper threading in a sense :P

Although, I'm not entirely sure what this AERO is you speak of, I do understand what your saying. Even though it's a bit of an annoyance, I'm just going to have to be stuck with one or the other for now until a less intensive piece of software is released
