How do you get MPG files to play? What player will play them? Do I need to get codec?

Did you bother to check the Stickies located at the top of this section? Here's an easy answer since this player has in-built codecs & we always recommend it: VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site)BTW if you want to learn more about mpg then go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnutella & type mpg or mpeg into the search box. There's many mpeg formats. The higher the number the better the format potential. Mpeg 1 is known for VCD's. Mpeg 2 for dvd's, Mpeg4 for internet file swapping & phone dial tones, & variations of MPeg 4 for blue ray dvd & HDD dvd. There's also other higher mpeg formats in development. MPeg like JPeg is a "lossy" format which means it throws away information to help to reduce in size. The more recent the mpeg the better it is at reducing in size whilst maintaining quality. |
