LimeWire will not open.I use a Widows XP operating system and have uninstalled and re-downloaded Java and Lime Wire will open one time and then not again. Every time I do this Lime Wire will only open one time. Can someone help? Do I need to disable something in my anti-virus program or what? Thank you.

Did you use the offine installer for Java?
Try Java 1.6. Use the offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install the new one.

Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See points 2 & 3 below.

You could also try changing compatibility & see if that makes any difference (might not), that's point 5 above.

Do you use any antispyware or security programs? Some will see LW as a threat(it's not). Make sure that LW's on the list of exceptions/allowed apps.
Or, as a test, disable any antispyware type programs & then see if LW will open more than once.

O.K. I tried all your suggestions to get lw to open. Now it opens only if I restart my computer. It'll open one time and that's it. I remove anti spyware to see if that would help it did not. Any more suggestions. I am stumped. Thanks for all your help and time on this.

Can you give us a list of all the security programs you use?

I have AVG free edition anti-virus and Ad-Aware-Se software.Also AOL has a spyware program. Thanks

Disable that AOL antispyware...it's caused probs for lots of people running LW

Use the forum search to have a look, search with Google or even try the AOL website & see if there's any info around.
