Im Freezin Up Here!!!!!! So, i've been a big fan of limewire for many moons now. I can remember all of the early updates for version 3 and so on..... yeah, whatever. So lets get to it. A few weeks ago, I opened Limewire to finish some downloads, I minimized it, and started up a game. A few minutes later, the game freezes up. I ain't talkin bout the type where I Ctrl+Alt+Del my way out.... the entire system was locked up, mouse wasnt movin, game wasn't movin, and all that. So after about a week of troubleshooting and thinking it was the game that did it (taking out RAM sticks, getting liquid cooling block for my GPU, scanning for viruses, spyware, etc.) I figure out that it wasn't the game, but it was Limewire. I ran Limewire by itself and it froze up absolutely like spit in siberia. Anyways, I tried to re-install it (didnt work), I tried running it in different compatability modes (with Win NT, Win ME, and Win 2000), I even went and deleted the Limewire preferences folder, ya know, the <.limewire> thing. All to no avail. If anyone could help out, would save me a bunch of healthcare issues like strokes and highblood pressure. Oh, and one more thing, If I didnt make it clear before. I open Limewire, it loads just fine, and I can use it for a few minutes, I can search download check my library, etc, but then without any warning the mouse stops moving, the downloads stop refreshing, and the entire system just goes the way of the dodo. Here's my hardware specs: Windows XP Pro SP2 3.0GHz Pentium 4 w/ HT 800MHz FSB overclocked at 3.15 2GB RAM 800Mhz 3 Hard drives: 40GB 80GB 250GB Java 1.5.0.110 ATI Radeon X1600 series Any comments whatsoever would be heralded as a message from the Gods, lol |
