downloads are fixed, but it still shuts down.

1. Disable ultrapeer capabilities. If you're still using the Beta, go tools > options > advanced > performance. If you're using a stable release again, go tools > options > speed. Apply to save a change.

2. Also decrease both your upload & download bandwidths a little.

3. Disable iTunes sharing.

Does that help at all?

Im stumped, if you have done all that has been sujested & your ISPs not foolin with you. I can only say Clean everything & start again.
Unless someone has more info for you.
Peace.

mickjapa,

i have tried everything, complete clean and install's etc. it just keeps happening. i even contacted LW support, answered their questions and they never got back to me. It's just strange, something that worked for so long now it does not anymore

I have just changed my router once again (i know, i know, i'm sorry  ) to a Netgear WPN824 router.

How do you static IP this one?

birdy April 7th, 2007 03:38 PM

What???? Another router????:lmao:

Just kidding. The steps for setting up a static IP don't change. If you've already set up a static IP, you shouldn't need to do it again. Just use that same static IP address when you're port forwarding for the Netgear;) The instructions are here:

Hi Everyone.

Can someone please explain what is so great about Routers, Cos I for one, only see, & have had personally, nothing but trouble with this Kit.

P.S. Good luck ELMonoDeFeo.
Peace.

hmm... I only have one DNS server, and it won't let me change to two of them... how do i fix this?

birdy April 8th, 2007 03:46 PM

Oh:(

You might have to call & ask your ISP for the DNS numbers. They should be able to give you that info without a problem (mine has a section for that sort of info within it's phone tree, so I don't even have to speak to anyone).
:)

ElMonoDeFeo April 12th, 2007 09:44 AM

oh, and i forgot to mention, when I was downloading stuff on limewire the other day, it suddenly shut down my internet, and I had to restart my computer to get the internet working on my computer again...

what happened?

EDIT:
uh-oh, massive problem. Time Warner Cable won't give out their DNS server numbers because "It may change every hour, every week, or every day", even though I explained to him that I needed it for one of the programs I was running and to static IP my computer. I also explained that I had done it when I had adelphia and they gave them out just fine (I'm not sure if they did or not, but oh well).

No avail. hmm... I'm gonna call again and tell him I know one of the DNS server numbers and ask for an alternate one... I'll see how that goes.

SECOND EDIT:
second time went better, the guy actually knew, but he transferred me and ended up dialing a wrong number.

third time is still in progress...

THIRD EDIT:
bummer... turns out that if they only give out one DNS server to a customer, that's all they can access... so I can only get one...

what should I use for my alternate DNS server?
