I've lost the ability to view D/L's in progress. I double clicked the close [x] button, and now when I select "preview" the drive kicks-in but no media screen appears.

Just check this....
Go to your limewire library and click on one of your files and select explore..

You should have your shared folder open up for you, now right click on one of your files, and select play...What happens does it start to play??

What media player have you chosen as your default player for these files ??
Check and see if that media player is still selected as your default...

If your default player doesn't work, you may have to uninstall it and then re-install it again..
