If i go to click the limewire icon in the notification area, the icon dissapears as soon as I put the pointer on it. Getting frustrating any ideas? Thanks 1. OS version? 1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) 2. Go to add/remove control panel & remove all versions of java including jre & jse. Then reinstall Java using only the 'Offline' installer: Download Java software from Sun Microsystems which I think is 2nd on the list (13 MB download.) Of course do this whilst LW is closed. And in fact, do it whilst your browsers are closed also. ;) |
I do have the firewall icon. (sorry new router) and i cant find the .limewire file to delete either. |
Have deleted the preferences folder and done the java uninstall/reinstall thing and still having problems. any other help would be greatlly appreciated. |
See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/267208-post26.html If still no good, try other options here Fixes for Limewire such as compatibility mode. Also, make sure you defragment your HDD. And make sure you have plenty of space left on drive to download to. Changing locations such as to drive F or G may be wise if you are getting short on space on drive C. |
Thanks LOTR, tried everything suggested and limewire is still shutting down. The downloads start, but after a while just seems to dissapear. have configured it fairly well (getting 14 hosts and around 120 k/bs)but only if the program will stay running!!! |
oh lord man of great wisdom can you point me in the right direction as i am having spot of bother with a virus. i have spring cleaned my save folder as my spyware keep finding, blocking then removing a file each time i check for viruses. right now there is no files in my SAVE folder but when i check it with the properties tab there is 1,776 files in there using 395MB. yet the SAVE folder is empty. when serching further using the address bar i added \_\ and found all of these files but i can't find out how to remove them |
Oops double-posted :nono: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/lounge/69826-oh-lord.html See WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link) But ignore links to Norbie's site, he no longer helps out due to other commitments. Sinkers try these things: 1. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! ____ 2. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...388#post129388 3. If sharing over 2,000 files, reduce it back a little. Also be careful of trying to share or download to external devices as they can sometimes be a little slow & cause system & LW problems. ;) |
Seems to work, if I am using computer. (I was downloading and walking away) Maybe something to do with screensaver? |
ah ... might be a clash yes. I have heard of side effects from a screensaver before. Not for some time though. Check to see exactly what your screensaver does & your system settings. I have my computer (HDD & monitor) set to never sleep & screensaver only runs if I manually trigger it to. I suspect your HDD might be slowed down perhaps when your screensaver comes on. Well ... let's hope that's the reason anyway. :) I only sleep my computer when I manually set it to. I need to do this due to rendering I need to do for work. If my HDD or cpu went to sleep whilst rendering then it would cancel it or permanently slow it down or cause some type of problem, possibly even a crash. |
