Files Not Playing.

Hello.

I am new to these forums. And I'm not sure if this question has been answered yet. But my question is that I cannot get any of my music files to play on Limewire.

Its never not worked before, and I read the FAQs. And that didn't seem to help. Does anyone even know what I'm talking about? When I click on the song in my library and press 'enqueue' the song appears in my playlist. When I click for the song to play, it doesn't.

I don't know if I'm just being stupid but I could really use some help.

Hi Nightsage.
Try downloading & using the VLC media player (Its Free) & recommended by us here
at the limewire forums. VLC player has most all of the codec's built into the player &
plays above average quality for music & excellent quality for video files, (It plays most everything)

If you wish, VLC player can be set as the default player for your computer, to do this
In Limewire Library, highlight a file mp3, avi or whatever you wish then click on
explore, in the bottom left corner.
This will take you to the shared folder outside of Limewire, right click on a file,
choose, open with, highlight VLC player, then tick the box to always use this program
to open this type of file. Repeat this action to include all the file types you wish VLC
to be the default player.
USE THIS LINK IN BLUE (download from the nearest mirror site to you)

Peace.

Thank you. The VLC worked (as in the songs play, I take it becuase the little bar moves) except now there's no sound coming out of my speakers. And my desktop speakers are on. And I tried adjusting the volume on the VLC. But I have no idea why there's no sound.

Sage
Right click on Volume icon and check sound is not mute.

Or do a sound diagnostics test.
What's your sound card ?

Sound Card? What is that? And how do you do a sound diagostics test?

I'm really sorry if I'm being a nuisance. I am not computer saavy at all.

e.g.. I have Creative SoundBlaster XFI Fatal

If you go to Start/Control Pannel & click on Sound & audio devices
it should say there.
Have you been using a mic or headphones lately ?

deadlynightsage May 13th, 2007 04:13 AM

I do not have a mic or headphones for the computer so I haven't used that.

When I clicked on the Sound and Audio Devices. It told me that there was no audio device. Which is weird because I have desktop speakers and they work. I hear sound from videos just not VLC or LW.

If you just try to answer questions I give you
We will get to the bottom of this, OK

What OS are you using XP, Vista, Mac. ?
Did you check audio volume is not mute ?
Have you tried using audio outside of L/W ?

deadlynightsage May 13th, 2007 04:34 AM

I have Microsoft Windows XP.
I tried to check if the audio volume is on mute however, it tells me that I have no audio device.
And for the last one does iTunes count. I tried using that and the songs didn't play either. They were both working fine until yesterday.

I just thought of something. My sister tried to play a DVD on my computer because we have somwething called CyberLink PowerDVD. The sound didn't work on that either. Do you think that that had somehting to do with it?
