Default LimeWire 4.12.11 does not start up

I've had LimeWire on my computer for a few months already. Sadly, a virus somehow infected my system and I was forced to re-format since it had caused extensive damage to most my files. After I had downloaded the latest version of Java (JRE 6 Update 1), LimeWire stopped working immediately. All I get now is that splash image of LimeWire, then nothing. No matter how many PC restarts or Java re-installations, nothing happens.

These are my PC specs:
Processor: Pentium 4 2.0 GHz
RAM: 512 MB
Hard Disk Drive: 40 GB
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2 [edit]

Anti-Virus: AVG Free Version 7.5 Build 467
Firewall: PC Tools Firewall Plus (Free firewall)<--- Not on the list of software that would cause LimeWire problems, so I presumed it would be okay to use.

Please remember, I have had LimeWire working for me for months before the re-format. I have exactly the same software as I had before. What's wrong with my LimeWire?

First of all, please remove any reference to pirated software from your post. It's in blatant violation of the FORUM RULES.

the pirated software could be the root of your problems. Crackers are Hackers too, ya know.

Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....(4th one down)

Vhan Strife Hi

Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get (jre-1.5.11) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one,
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
LimeWire
If you need help, Shout, If it fixed your problem or not, Feedback helps others.
Peace
