Go to this website:

My IP Address Lookup and IP Address Locator. Hide my IP address info.

(Or, in Limewire, you can click on the 'direct connect' tab)...I think this has an extension on it, though. The first 10 digits are the ip address.

I have a firewall, see. Does that website take that into account? When I click it, does it give me the firewall's IP or my actual computer's IP?

Does it even matter??

It shows your external ip. External ip's are given by ISP's, with the exception of some networked computers AFAIK.

So does that mean that that is the IP I would give to another person if they wanted to connect to my computer via the internet? Would it also work on a LAN connection? By that I mean if I wanted to connect to another computer in my Local Area Network, would I use this IP or another one for permission problems? Not that I have any problems, I'm just wondering Thanks anyways!

Yep, one problem with Direct Connecting or using Magnet Links, is that it gives that ip the computer is using at that time. But many people's ip's change every few days or even every day if they are dynamic ip's. So you need to recheck your ip just in case. LAN's will connect very easily & will give a blue connection sign for quality ... you will notice when you see it, & very fast when transfering files.

LW will give your ip at the time when you choose Direct Connect search type. If you don't see it, it means you have a firewall issue in which case you will have great problems using direct connecting type. AFAIK direct connect will not work if you are in that scenario. On a LAN connecting between each other might be different I am not sure.
