Problematic is flying high
Default Trying to change back to Windows.

I have had Limewire for a few months and it was going great. I was using Windows and there was no problem.

Just a few weeks ago I downloaded the VLC player. This was in hope of watching some videos on the internet that I downloaded, but couldn't watch. That did not work by the way.

I was looking at it under my Start Menu and I accidentally clicked a button on there. Now limewire wants to use that to play videos, but it won't do it since I have Windows version. I can download a video, but it won't play. Songs work just fine though.

I then went into my files and found the things I still had downloaded, and it'll play videos from there for some reason.

All I want to do is get it to go back to Windows so it'll work correctly. I tried uninstalling the player, and Limewire, but that doesn't work. When I reinstall Limewire it still shows that cone next to stuff, (the symbol of the player) even though I have it deleted. Please help me!

This is the player:

Right-click a file. Select 'properties'. Select 'change' to choose a new default player for that file type. That should help.

Good Luck

Not that good with computers, so do you mean to click on something I've downloaded, or can I click on Limewire in my Start Menu?

I tried downloads, and there is no properties button, so I assumed the Start Menu. There was a properties option, but I don't see where I can change the player.

Sorry.

Find one of the video files in your shared folder. The default location is C:\Documents and Settings\"you account Name"\Shared. The easy way to find it is to start limewire and go to the library page, click on you shared folder and click the explore button. A window will open with your shared folder in it. Open up the folder.

Now right click a file and click on Properties > then click on "Change" > choose Windows Media Player from the list > click OK > Apply > OK.

That should change all the files of that type to WMP. Just repeat the process for any other files you want to change.

That works changing everything to Windows. It stays VLC player when I search and download stuff. I just have to change it after I download I guess. Won't let me preview videos before I finish downloading them. I guess I'll have to wait however long it takes to find out if it was worth it.

By the way, what shoud I do if I find something under a false name? Should I just mark it as junk?

Thanks for the help though.

Try deleting LW's preference folder with LW completely shut down. See point 2 & 3 in this thread: Fixes for Limewire. This will reset all your option settings, so make a note of them first.
