I just tried java 5.12 with limewire and then I tried Frostwire. No luck on anything, still closed out. And I did delete the preferences folders. So does that rule out java?

Sorry Guys...I had a few days off...
Back to your issues... dpb1992, that error you get is a Java error... I think we need to start fresh... Can you both follow these steps in this order and when you come to the Java install, you need to uninstall all other versions you have in your add/remove programs... Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version.... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link... Lime Wire » Download LimeWire If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

I don't mean to be rude but I already tried that:

Yeh I know, but that was 5.12 and it was known to be buggy as well...
If these fixes don't work, I'm out of ideas as to why this is happening to you...

Hey it works! It didn't close! So word of advice: 5, 11 will work, 5, 12 will not.

well it still works but I had to try it 3 times before it would stay open. I think its when limewire asks if you want pro or not...if you hit the later button at the wrong time it will close...

That's strange...Hopefully the next release will have ironed out all of these bugs...
