Wingman, Do you have a media player?? To use the Limewire Media Player, Go to Tools > Options > Player. Check Use LW Media Player.

LW Media Player isn't very good so you might try one of these. WMP, Winamp, iTunes, VLC..

Remco;

I took your suggestion but LW media player was already checked. I unchecked as I have Windows Media Player but still couldn't play the songs. Do you have to download them first before they will play? I am not a computer expert so everything must be explained to me very carefully.

Thanks

You say you have WMP. No, you don't have to download it. You may have to upgrade it though. Do this and tell me what you find.

While in Limewire, click the Library tab. Now click EXPLORE in the lower left corner. This will take you to your shared/saved folder Outside of Limewire. Now Right click on any file. Go to Open With, click Choose Program. If you see WMP Click on it and it will highlite. Now Put check in box; Always use program to open.... click OK.

I would suggest taking a look at VLC Media Player. It is a prefered player here on the forums. See Link below. If you decide you want to try it, you will have to Download It.

VLC media player - Overview.

Hope this helps.

I think he is asking if he has to download MP3s before he can play them.

If is his then the answer is "yes", you cannot play anything unless it is on your computer.

I think Wingman2007, in his naivety, is trying to play songs from the "Search Screen", which is not possible.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Can't you even play the songs while they are being downloaded.

Thanks to you both including REMOC

Damn Bob you are just to GOOD. How did you come up with that distinction? That didn't even cross my mind. Thanks, Bob and good luck Wingman.

Wingman

As I said in my first post, you cannot play anything unless it has been downloaded to or already on your PC.

However, if you have the VLC media player, as linked in Remoc's post, you will be able to play bits of your songs or videos as they are being downloaded but only the bits that are on your machine.

Now, I know that when you visit YouTube, Amazon, etc., it seems that you are playing a media file over the internet. But what you are really playing is a temporary file that has been downloaded to your HD via your browser.

PS. Cheers Remoc.

Ok Ok, did all those things and I still can not get the music to play. I was not able to down load the player from the link though, however do have windows media 11 player and winamp. I have unlimited everything on LW and have ADSL wireless as a connection. My processor is an AMD 4600+. My daughter can get limewire to play on her user name and we are both listed as administrators. Anymore suggestions ?

I'm having trouble playing the songs too, downloading or finished downloading. Now I can play the songs if I open up a player (WinAmp) but then the song is fully download and most of the time I want to get a preview of the song first before I fully download it since I have slow connection, I don't want to have to download a whole song (because I couldn't listen to it) and then listening to it when it's finished downloading on another player because if I decide I don't like it, what was the point of waiting fifteen whole minutes downloading it when I could have been looking for another song? Okay, so my current player is WinAmp, and I do have Windows Media Player 9 too, but the default player is WinAmp. Can anyone help me identify the problem? I've tried all the things listed up there but none of them worked. AND taking advice from a friend, I had installed and uninstalled it three times, only to install it again to try if it would work and it hasn't. So if anyone could help, I'd really much appreciate it! Thanks.
