I have a Firewall which is Zone Alarm Free, i would be most grateful if you could explain this to me. luya56

You need to make an exception in the ZoneAlarm firewall and limewire should work.

I can give is, when I go to Zone Alarm program control, Limewire has four ticks next to it, I suppose that means it's protected, is that correct? you need to give the model of your modem/router as some have built in firewalls. The ZoneAlarm is fine.

It means limewire is blocked by some kind of firewall, either a software one, or a modem/router one.

Have a look on PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall and try and find your router on there to see if it's got a firewall.

As the Conexant Soft K56 Modem is a built in dial up modem and doesn't have a firewall, if you are using broadband, cable, dsl, your modem/router is the little black box that connects you to the internet, if you have a look underneath it you will find the make and model number for it...

Zarabaath and wondering why, thank you for your reply. I looked underneath the Modem and it's a BT Voyager 105. It's a basic router and after Googling, it appears to me it doesnt have a Firewall. I am running on Win XP Home, I have 768mb RAM, 38GB Hard Drive free space and and an external Hard Drive with 280GB free space. As stated in my initial post, I have AVAST Anti Virus Free and ZONE ALARM Firewall free installed, both detected on AOL start up....luya56
