Limewire Keeps Shutting Down On Its Own Hey Its Not My Java. I've Uninstalled And Reinstalled Java A Few Times And It Works Fine With Everything Else. But Limewire Keeps Shutting Down On Its Own. Why????? I Figured I'd Try To Get An Answer On Here Before I Just Get Rid Of Limewire. |
Are you downloading files when LW shuts down? Try reducing the number of simultaneous downloads to 1 or 2. Does it shut down when no downloads are in progress? Which version of Java are you using? People have had problems with the most recent Java updates (even when other things are fine, LW acts up). So, if you have Java 1.6.0_01 or 1.6.0_02, try this version instead. Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 If it turns out that Java's not the problem, it's easy enough to reinstall a later update;) Also try the tips here: Reduce the drag caused by LW Is LW shutting down at regular intervals (eg every 2 hours)? Not trying to alarm you or anything, but somebody recently had this happen & it turned out to be a virus. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...premature.html |

still not working!!!! k...deleted the .limewire and it is still....yes still shutting down. |
exit out of lw make sure all programs are closed. make sure that .limewire is still deleted. Go to "your folder" enable the show hiden files or folders option. Then after you can see your hidden folders go to Roaming then delete the Limewire file. This is your preferences for lw. Now when you open lw it will prompt you to reselect your perferences. Does this work? |
i did all that and it still shuts down |
Can you please describe how your LW shuts down? For example: "When I start LW it shut down right away", or: "Its shut down 1 hour after using". That will help us a lot. And, there is an error log in your LW directory. Try to start LW, then after its shut down, try searching that error log, and post it here. That error log has date written on it so it will be easy for you to navigate and find it. It is very important to post it here; it wouldn't call "Log" if there is no use for it :) Check from Add/Remove programs, from Control Panel, how many Java versions do you have. Tell us that, also. Thanks. |
Java 1.5 and it will run for about ten minutes then shut down. i'll start it back up again then maybe six minutes later it will do it again. where is the log??? thanks for all the help guys! thats really cool that your trying to help me.:aweof: |
