Porblem ? if limewire did it

ok I installed the free version of limewire like 2-3 weeks ago and just this week i started getting pop ups every few seconds on internet explorer but not my aol. I think limewire may have started it. I have deleted it thanks to remoc, but i still apear to be getting an insane amount of pop ups. Please help.

Are you saying that Limewire opens after you close it and continues to do so?? Or are you talking about Pop Up Ads?? If Limewire keeps opening after you have shut it down, Then you're probably infected.

You might be able to resolve the problem by just installing AVG, update and then scan, but read link below. Try AVG before BFU.

Try the fix in this thread: To fix the limewire keeps popping up / no taskmanager bug do the following

There's a virus that causes LW to keep opening up on it's own, there's also one that prevents the options menu from being accessed. Do a virus scan. If your av doesn't pick up anything, try d/loading AVG free (click on link) update it and do a scan, then follow the prompts.

Sorry folks, I think I have made a boo-boo, I will re-post once I have done some checking.

I know you have said that Limewire is popping-up but are you saying that it is popping up when you are using Internet Explorer, i.e. after you have established an Internet Connection, or something else is popping-up as well?

OOPS, Was just going to add to UKBob's suggestions on Spyware. OK will add this. In addition to SpyBot S&D, and Ad Aware, I feel this is an absolute MUST have. SpywareBlaster. See Link below.

Hope you have a Great New Year.

Sorry Remoc

I withdrew my suggestions when I re-read your posts, that's why I asked Seminole13
for clarification.

Either way, I hope the problem gets sorted.
