Default Firewall getting Hit by Fin Scan

Have been using LW for quite awhile now, never had any issues. Connected today and connection was open for about an hour. My firewall stopped a Fin Scan. I closed LW out and opened Firefox and went about checking mail visiting sites etc. I kept getting hit by the Fin Scan about once an hour. The firewall alerts me every time it tries. Been hit plenty of times now, firewall always blocks it. Never had this happen before. Can anyone help by giving me some insight on what's happening and what the heck is Fin Scan ? Thanks
