New poster..Greets all y'all. Looked at dozens of FAQ's and previous threads but didn't loc my prob in discussion.

WinXP Pro SR2 all updates, 3.2 gHz, 3 GB RAM, 6 HD's, over 1 Terabyte storage, 100,000+ tunes, less than 100 shared at a time. Something you want, just ask. Am a part/time DJ, 75% of stored/saved tunes are directly ripped from studio library at 160/192/224/256 Kbps. 25% from P2P sharing.
Windows Firewall
Linksys wireless/Westell Bellsouth I.S.P Ultra DSL
Test worked
Home connection
No other P2P's
LW Pro 4.16.7 upgraded from 4.14 Pro. Problem didn't exist before.

I have no problem D/L'ing to or playing from my established Shared Folder location (F:\My Shared Files). However, when I COPY D/L'd files to another Folder (F:\Temp), they will play, but if I MOVE files to another Folder, they will not play. I have columns active for "Filename, Duration, Bit Rate, Size, Track, Album title, Year". When I COPY, all that info transfers to new location, but if I attempt to MOVE files, only Filename and size info columns fill.
T.I.A. Direct emails welcome. M'aidez, s'il vous plait.

Default Recommended fixes No Go

Sorry, Ursula,...The Lord Of The Rings recommended fixes you linked me to were already tried, but I went through all the steps again.

I had JRE 1.6.0_1 installed. Removed it with Ctrl Pnl A & R Pgms.
Went to link for J2SE 1.5.0_11, installed it offline, as recommended.
Tried to D/L a tune, it arrived in folder F:\My Shared Files. It played fine. I copied it to F:\Temp, it played fine, I MOVED IT to F:\Temp, would NOT play and would not transfer back, Error message: Access Denied

Got a popup, NEW JAVA Software available, it Autoinstalled Java (TM) 6. update 5. I D/L'd another tune, arrived in correct folder, played fine, copied it over, played fine, MOVED IT, file would not play. Indicates file is there, filesize doesn't change in any circumstance, but add'l data doesn't transfer, as before. I then removed JRE 6.updt 5, too. Redo above, still no joy. Won't play when MOVED, only when COPIED.

Also found NO folder named C:\Documents and Settings\*my username*\ApplicationData\.limewire. Had "Show Hidden Files" already set. Did find C:\Doc & Set\*usr*\Limewire\ w/ 4 subfolders and a C:\Program Files\Limewire with the installation subfolders and files in it.

What Next...use RESTORE function to go to previous ver of LW? Already paid to update.

RE: PM; Tilted slightly off-center now....
p.s. only sharing 100 at a time, don't want to be a target for RIAA. Anytune you looking for?
p.p.s Been in P2P for 8 years, was also On-air talent years ago.

Which player are you using? WMP is a playlist player, so if they were originally added from a different location, the player might not be able to find the new locations. Do you have any program that does not use playlists? A player that plays songs directly will tell you if the files you have copied are ok. Open them directly.

Default The player I use..

..is WinAmp ver 5.093, the latest ver I believe. I try to stay away from WMP and even so, have not loaded later than ver 9 of that, due to DRM restrictions embedded in ver 10 and later. Even so, before the latest ver of LW that I'm using, I was able to play tunes in either WinAmp, WMP or the LW embedded player, AFTER MOVING them to a new folder. Now, none of my players will play a tune after moving it. Only if I keep a copy of the tune in the F:\My Shared Folder, will it play in a different folder. After copying, I see all the file attributes in IDv2 and IDv3 in WinAmp, but if I MOVE a file, all attributes are gone and all that shows in my "Moved to" fiolder is filename and filesize. And I can't move them back.

T.I.A. 4 ur help.
