I was unregistered in my post yesterday so for clarification...I'm running 98SE, have a DSL connection going through a router for my network - I know the router has a firewall but know nothing about it.

What versions of LW are exhibiting this behavior? That would really help us debug the problem. Are you seeing it in code before 2.2.0?
Thanks, Christopher Rohrs |

Note: I just installed 2.2.1 today and have the same issue of connecting okay, searching okay, but no text in window (I can right click on something that allows me to select from a list but since the hot buttons are grayed out both above and below in the download window, I believe nothing would actually download.
Note: I received an alert today to install the new version of LW and did. I suspect this problem is alot bigger than you guys think it is. Used "Clean" Lime, per your suggestion (which was not user friendly to intall) but that did not fix the problem. I suspect if you do not fix this issue soon you will have a major drop in usage. OS: W98 second edition with 5.5 IE, latest updates, Java 1.3 |

Dude, that fixed it but... when right clicking on your link, Windows puts a .txt extension and does not overwrite the existing file.
I deleted and then renamed the (.txt) file and it worked, thanks!! |

Ok, I used to work software support and heard a lot of 'sure you did' stories but here is what happened to me.
Downloaded LimeWire 2.2.1 and had the same problem with no results in the search window. Windows 98, accepted all the defaults during install. I uninstalled 2.2.1 and was searching for an older version (using this forum) when I came across the display.props file. I downloaded it, removed the txt extension and put it in the folder where I had the LimeWire installation program (c:\window\desktop\tempinstall\gnutella\limewire). The installation went the same as before and I can see the file names in the search window now. Go figure! Thanx for posting the display.props file. |

Clean LimeWire. Right.
Anyway, this issue is fixed in the latest LimeWire. Thanks to everyone for their help. |

Trustar has fixed this problem before the user have discovered it? I will ask him about this! Note: My PRO version works fine too... so if you have "NO" bug with CLW this means nothing! Morgwen |
