![]() I just got Limewire 4.16.7, and I am still having problems getting it to start. I have windows XP SP2. My firewall and antivirus are disabled while I am trying to fix this issue. The loading screen comes up, but then the screen that asks where I want my music saved shows up, and no matter what button I press on that menu, limewire just shuts down and disappears off of the running processes. I did everything that all the threads have mentioned.

![]() I think you may have read an old thread. Try this. Remove All Java versions installed (via Add/Remove Programs) before you install the latest Version. (Download the JRE Offline Installer) Java SE Downloads Fifth one down. |

![]() So I tried that, and got the 5th one down called Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6 I uninstalled all java programs, then uninstalled limewire and deleted the limewire folder in application data. Then I installed the new java, and LW again....same problem......... |

![]() Well...Humm You could try an older version. The newer versions seem to be Wreaking Havoc with most members. See Link. OldVersion - Newer isn't always better ! Version 4.12.3 or 4.12.6 are probably the most stable versions without the useless Bittorrent attempt. Hope this Helps. If you don't want to try an older version then post your system details and maybe we can help you with the new version. system details |

![]() Did you try changing LW compatibility mode? Windows NT or 2K Step 5 here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...ng-should.html |

![]() Yup, tried compatibility mode as well....that doesn't work. I think I am going to have to try and downgrade. But here is the problem, the reason I upgraded was because this same thing was happening to me with the older version of LW. But I'll go ahead and try since I have a different version of Java now. |

2. Reinstall LW using this version http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe (no need to uninstall, the installer will do that for you.) |

![]() Wow, I have no idea what u did, but the procedure I did to install this limewire you gave a link to I did not change, and now all of a sudden it works!!!! By the way, I noticed that limewire killed itself when I tried to uncheck the boxes that make it so limewire doesn't associate itself with torrent files or magnet files....so I just opened LW again and this time I didn't uncheck those boxes...I just hit next again and it worked!! Whoever the developers are, they might wanna check to see if there is a glitch in those options if you uncheck something...cause that's what caused LW to not work...although that isn't the original cause of what was happening to me earlier. Thanks again!!!! |
