![]() I'm pretty sure where this goes, if its not please tell me where it belongs so I may repost it there. First off, I would like to explain why I chose to uninstall Limewire and just buy the music CD's. Limewire would auto select my C: Drive to share, I re-installed several times to try and fix this, which caused it to share thousands upon thousands of files, which lagged my computer to the point I couldn't use LimeWire, yet alone change which files are shared. On top of that, each time I closed LimeWire, it would open itself back again, creating the same issues stated above, these 2 things pushed me far enough that I un-installed the program permanently. Now that I have un-installed LimeWire I no longer have LimeWire automatically opening up, how ever I do have a java window popping up saying LimeWire failed to open. I have all LimeWire files removed, and it is not on my "Add/Remove Files List" under the control panel. I get the below error message. --- LimeWire version 4.17.6 Java version 1.6.0_03 from Sun Microsystems Inc. Windows XP v. 5.1 on x86 Free/total memory: 31303464/33357824 com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUILoader$StartupFailed Exception: .\lib\hashes (The system cannot find the file specified) at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUILoader.sanityCheck(G UILoader.java:281) at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.GUILoader.load(GUILoade r.java:58) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Nativ e Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknow n Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Un known Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main.main(Main.java:45) STARTUP ERROR! -- listing properties -- WINDOW_Y=-4 WINDOW_X=-4 PORT=2460 TOTAL_CONNECTION_TIME=28663297 LAST_FWT_STATE=true RUN_ON_STARTUP=false UPDATE_DELAY=252000020 UPDATE_GIVEUP_FACTOR=49 DOWNLOAD_SNAPSHOT_BACKUP_FILE=C:\Documents and Settings\Mark\Deskto... I have had good experiences with LimeWire in the past, but these issues have driven me insane (They started when I upgraded to version 14 I believe, after updating to Version 18 the problem was still there) Don't tell me how to fix Limewire while its installed, I don't plan on using it again, just tell me how I can get rid of the Java error message that pops up every minute. Thanks in advance. |

![]() You probably have a virus. Make sure your antivirus application has the latest virus definitions and do a full scan of your whole system. The symptoms you have described sound very like the ones other people have described who have found that a virus is causing all of their problems. It's probably not Limewire's fault at all that you have been having the problems you have reported. Read the advice provided in this link and see if that solves your problem: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...m-startup.html And if you're the same panther who wrote and bragged that you had Limewires support phone number you should fully understand why nobody has bothered to answer your questions for a week. ![]() It wasn't a virus, I found the issue. The uninstall doesn't remove all teh files, at least it didn't for me, I found a batch of library files for limewire (Created the same day I installed limewire) that weren't uninstalled. After I manually removed them myself everything was fine. I'm not the same Panther that posted something about a phone number, to be honest I didn't even know about these forums until I week ago, when I posted. How ever I did decide to test what you said, probably not the smartest thing to do once I fix the problem, and found that it didn't work for me. I could of had a glitched install caused by my firewall or lag, just don't know. Thanks for the help, I'm not the same panther that bragged about a support phone number, personally over all in the past I have had issues with support numbers, not saying limewire is one, and no longer use them, let alone look for them, instead I post on a forum and hope for an answer while I try to fix it myself. |
