LW Version: 4.??.??
OS: XP sp2 Problem: The display within the LimeWire window is garbled. I know that it is not a hardware problem as it is only within the LW window and even the title of the window is without the corruption. I have not updated Java and am using 1.5.0. I do not remember what version of LW I'm using as I can not read the text nor does the install I have say in the file name. however I do remember that it is a version 4.something (believe 4.1ish just before torrent was added). I will attach a screen shot later in my next post. |

Okay, maybe I won't post a picture of the problem I do not have time for filling out another account at some file server place. Sorry I guess you will have to take my word for it.
Thanks in advance for any help. Also note that when LW is first started it looks normal and after a while (undetermined amount of time but more than 5 min.s) it then gets wonky. However it still functions normally and is downloading and uploading the files specified. I can even re-search (only because I remember the location relative to the menu) However a new search is out of the question as I can not read what I am typing nor read the findings. Hack me once, shame on you. Hack me twice, shame on my network administrator. |

Appears that both Java and LW are a little outdated. If you want to update Java, See below.
Try uninstalling all versions of Java from add/remove programs and then use Crap Cleaner to clean the registry. Try updating to the latest version of Java here Java SE Downloads (First JRE 1.6.10)Useing the JRE Offline Installer. If the latest update gives you any problems, try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Hope this Helps. If you want to update LW see www.limewire.com. |

I take it that you believe that this is a Java problem. I just want it in plane English so that when someone does a search it will come up in the search results.

Yep it is/was a Java issue. It seems to work for now. Should make a sticky of LimeWire Display Corruption Possibly Caused By Java. Also nice that you posted links to the se version
