Limewire runs but with corrupted window

I'm running basic version 4.18 on XP x64bit, Avast Anti Virus and a Windows Firewall. I also have the latest version of Java

Basically what happens is, ill install the program just fine but when i load it up the window is corrupted ... it will show the blue window borders and the "Limewire" title header but the inside of the window shows nothing .. i can basically see my desktop through the window. Wired thing is .. i took a screen shot to try and make it easier to explain what it looks like but when i pasted it on paint.. it showed the program properly!!?

if anyone knows this issue let me know .. thanks

Updating your Java might fix it. Use the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions installed, before you install the new one.

If that doesn't help, try reverting to an older Java. Someone recently had probs with LW graphics & found that going back to this version fixed things. Same deal - offline JRE etc

ya i did the offline install
(Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11)

.. but when i load up LW this time it says i need 5.0 or higher

so i tried offline Java JRE 6_11
i tried offline Java JRE 5_16

either it says needs 5.0 or the same graphical issue occurs
